Millie Ballance graduated from London’s Camberwell School of Art (BA Fine Art) in 1988. Subsequently, she moved to Canada, and since then has lived, worked and exhibited mostly in Vancouver. (see list below) In 2010 she moved back to the UK, choosing to set up her studio in Brighton, on the South coast. Happy to be back in England, Brighton and the South Downs are a constant source of inspiration.
In 2008 a book by Sue Ann Alderson, beautifully illustrated by Millie, The Eco Diary of Kiran Singer won the ASPCA’s Henry Bergh Award, and in late 2010 Tradewind Books published ‘Black Dog’, by Michelle Sperle, in which Millie’s “illustrations…complement the text perfectly!”
